What is Root Canal Treatment?

How is RCT done?

  • The dentist uses files to shape the inner chamber of your tooth. He irrigates with water to drain away any remaining tooth pulp. An antimicrobial solution would kill bacteria, keeping your tooth free from infection.

  • You could find the dentist cleaning and drying the inner chamber of your tooth. He then seals the root canals with a rubber-like material (gutta percha).

  • Your dentist would then close the tooth opening with a temporary filling. Your dentist completes the RCT by placing a permanent crown at the top of your tooth.
